SCHENECTADY Waitt Houses Inc., operator of group homes for troubled youths for about two decades, has closed amid allegations of misappropriation of funds.
Much of the funding for the agency has been provided by the state Department of Social Services.
Terry McGrath, a spokesman for the state, said Waitt Houses has been under investigation since late last year.
``Our department has been looking into operations for some time,'' McGrath said Tuesday. ``We are continuing to do so even after the announced closing.'' …
