Vic: Man charged with murder after woman dies of stab wounds

MELBOURNE, April 6 AAP - A 24-year-old man has been charged with murder and will face court
today after a woman was stabbed and later died in a house in Melbourne's east.

Michael Jones, 24, of south suburban Cheltenham faced an out of sessions hearing last night
and was then remanded in custody to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates Court this
morning, a police spokesman said.

Police were called to a house at Sherman Street, Forest Hill, around 10.45am yesterday
following the report of a stabbing.

The victim died at the scene.

A post mortem was carried out on the woman's body last night. The deceased woman's name has
not been released.
