ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 16 -- United States Patent no. 7,869,076, issued on Jan. 11, was assigned to j2 Global Communications Inc. (Los Angeles).
"Facsimile Telecommunications System and Method" was invented by David S Trandal (Santa Barbara, Calif.), David J Brahm (Santa Barbara, Calif.), Leland W Kirchhoff (Santa Barbara, Calif.), Robert A Dolan (Santa Barbara, Calif.) and David F Hofstatter (Santa Barbara, Calif.).
According to the abstract released by the U.
S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A fax processing system handles faxes that are originally destined for a recipient's phone number. The fax processing system communicates with the fax recipient via a data communications network (for example, the Internet) and can provide more sophisticated fax handling capabilities than conventional fax machines."
The patent was filed on Jan. 16, 2009, under Application No. 12/355,470.
