WA: Police investigated for high speed prank wearing KKK hoods

Two West Australian police officers face the sack after being caught on camera driving
at twice the speed limit while dressed in Ku Klux Klan-style white hoods.

Police have confirmed an internal investigation is underway into the two officers stationed
at Bunbury, 180 kilometres south of Perth.

In August 2001, the officers were snapped as they passed a speed camera at 126 kilometres
per hour in a 60 kilometre an hour zone.

At the time police, unaware of who was in the unmarked Holden Commodore with obscured
number plates, described the incident as a dangerous stunt designed to taunt police.

Southern Region Commander DARYL BALCHIN has told ABC Radio there's no information to
suggest any other officers were involved.

He says one of the officers is on reduced duties while the other is in hospital and
on medication.

Commander BALCHIN says the chances of the officers keeping their jobs is very slim.
